Let the Water Lead the Way

In Tropical North Queensland, water flows not just through land, but through story. It shapes the rainforest, nourishes ancient ecosystems, and carves still places where we’re invited to rest, reflect, and be. From sacred falls to family-friendly swimming holes, discover the places where nature flows freely—and let yourself move with it.

Djiru National Park

Lacey Creek Swimming Hole
Tucked just minutes from Mission Beach, this gentle forest-fringed creek offers cool waters and quiet space. You’ll often share the path with butterflies and, if you’re lucky, a cassowary. Bring a towel and let your shoulders drop.

Ponytail Falls
Reached by a rainforest track, this delicate waterfall flows through fern-framed rock in a scene of deep stillness. One for the explorers and nature-lovers who seek out the tucked-away treasures.

Josephine Falls
Cascading down in silky ribbons, this tiered waterfall near Bartle Frere is both sacred and playful—with natural rock slides, shaded pools, and a rainforest soundtrack. Honour the energy of this place as you cool your body and still your thoughts.

Nandroya Falls (via Henrietta Creek)
Follow a winding trail through towering rainforest and across creeks to a magnificent two-tiered waterfall. The walk is part of the experience—letting you arrive fully present, and grateful for what awaits.

Clamshell Falls (Behana Gorge)
A powerful series of cascades with turquoise pools along the way. The walk in is scenic, the water pure, and the setting perfect for grounding yourself in the elements.

Murray Falls
Power and beauty meet in these smooth granite falls. A boardwalk leads to a safe viewing area, or walk the forest trail to take in wider views. Downstream, swim and soften into the earth.

Wallaman Falls
The tallest single-drop waterfall in Australia, and an experience that can’t be described—only felt. Mist rises from the base, ancient cliffs wrap around you, and time seems to pause. Walk to the base, or honour the view from above.

Jourama Falls
A multi-tiered waterfall and collection of rock pools nestled in monsoon forest. You can swim, wander, or hike to the lookout. It’s a place for still reflection and playful immersion.

State Forest

Attie Creek Falls
A short walk opens to a narrow, quiet fall with a tranquil pool—ideal for resting feet and minds alike.

Dead Horse Creek
Unmarked and low-key. A place that feels far away from everything, in the best possible way.

Cardwell Spa Pools
Famed for their striking blue, mineral-rich waters. Float here and feel the colour itself ease your breath and slow your pulse.

Hinchinbrook Island National Park (Access by boat)

Mulligan Falls
A quiet oasis on the island. Shaded pools and a soft drop—perfect for a cool dip after walking the Thorsborne Trail.

Zoe Falls
One of the region’s most breathtaking falls. Climb to the top for a natural infinity pool and sweeping views across rainforest and reef.

Atherton
Tablelands

Millaa Millaa Falls
Lush, green, and near-perfect in symmetry. A well-loved photo spot with a truly serene plunge pool.

Zillie Falls
A powerful fall viewed from above—strong and wild, especially after rain.

Ellinjaa Falls
Tumbling over lava columns into a cool, shallow pool. Sometimes visited by turtles, always worth the stop.
